Glass Re-Float

Leeds city council do not collect for glass recycling… Which is just silly.

Why consistently use up time, money and resources to make glass bottles, instead of just making a glass bottle out of a glass bottle?

In partnership with Leeds Beckett University, and the fabulous other student project leader, Marie Stubbings, we are running the Glass re-float project in areas of Hyde Park and Archery Road.

All we do is sign up houses, rent a van, then once a month collect the glass that they have been saving and take it to a bottle bank.

That is it.

Such a small act, taking up 3 hours a month between a few volunteers saves tonnes of glass being stored in landfill. This project has expanded since last year, integrating another area of the city, so hopefully we will also integrate more volunteers!

The collections will take place on Wednesday afternoons between 1-4pm. Which just coincidently happens to be when Beckett students don’t have classes… Funny that.

Make sure to save the dates below, join the Facebook group here and make sure to contact either myself or Marie (m.stubbings3966@student.leedsbeckett.ac.uk) if you have any questions. Everyone is welcome.
